G-202: Debris Management Planning for State, Tribal, and Local Officials – Pierre

Course Overview

This course provides an overview of key issues and recommended actions necessary to plan for, respond to, and recover from major debris-generating events. Emphasis is placed on state, local, and tribal responsibilities, with a focus on pre-disaster planning.

Topics include:

• Debris management organizational structures
• Laws and regulatory compliance
• Contracting procedures
• Debris management site selection
• Volume reduction and recycling methods
• Special debris situations
• Supplemental assistance

Who Should Attend

State, local, tribal, and territorial emergency management personnel, including public works and waste management staff responsible for debris removal and disposal planning and operations.

Course Objectives

✔ Apply knowledge for planning, implementing, and managing debris operations
✔ Understand key concepts in debris planning, response, and recovery

• Attendance Requirement: Full participation is required to receive credit

Canceling Registrations

If a student can no longer attend the training they have registered for, they are asked to notify the State Training Officer as soon as possible prior to the class date. At least two (2) weeks’ notice is preferred, as it allows individuals on waitlists to be offered a seat. It is understood that unforeseen circumstances may arise that prevent advance notice.
