G364 Planning for Schools

Tuesday, April 3 – Wednesday, April 4, 2018   (2-day course)

Pierre, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

This course provides students with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to refine or develop an all-hazards school Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). This will include how to assess potential hazards schools could be faced with, and building and testing the plan based off those hazards. Building partnerships with outside agencies such as law enforcement, fire, and emergency management will also be emphasized.

Participants are encouraged to bring any current plans for their school, as they will be used during class and expanded upon. Any pertinent participants who do not have a current school plan will leave the course with one.

Audience: Any person who might be involved in the planning process for a school, to include local emergency management, first responders, teachers, nurses, counselors, and school administrators/officials.

Prerequisites: None

Noteworthy: This course may be used by school faculty and administration as continuing education credits through the Department of Education.

Noteworthy: This class has been certified as 14 hrs. of continuing education for EMS providers.
