G191 Emergency Operations Center/Incident Command System Interface – Virtual Course

Tuesday, October 27th, 2020   (1-day virtual course)  8:30 am – 5:00 pm

The course provides an opportunity for emergency management and response personnel to begin developing an Incident Command System (ICS)/Emergency Operations Center (EOC) interface for their communities. The course reviews ICS and EOC characteristics, responsibilities and functions and depends heavily on activities and group discussions to formulate an interface.

The goal of this professional development course, G-191 Emergency Operations Center/Incident Command System Interface, is to enable the students to develop an effective interface between the Incident Command/Unified Command and the Emergency Operations Center by applying National Incident Management System principles.

Course Objectives:

  • Explain the course structure and potential ICS/EOC interface challenges.
  • Explain key NIMS concepts, command and coordination systems, and structures.
  • Analyze given scenarios to determine commonalities and potential interface issues between ICS and EOCs.
  • Explain the respective roles and interconnectivity of the NIMS command and coordination systems.
  • Contrast the typical role and functions of the Incident Command and the EOC during emergency operations.
  • Analyze given scenarios to apply ICS/EOC interface concepts.
  • Develop an ICS/EOC interface action plan for your community.

Value Added Feature- We have added one additional segment that specifically addresses how these concepts apply to those in Public Health and Public Works Department Operations Centers, Law Enforcement Personnel, those individuals serving in the National Guard and application for those who are completing a task book and IMT situations.

Audience: The intended audience(s) are federal, state, tribal, territorial, local level, private industry, volunteer and nongovernmental emergency management personnel who are active in a community’s ICS and EOC activities.  This course works best when delivered to combined audience of ICS and EOC personnel. responsible for developing, staffing, managing and operating an EOC and coordinating EOC operations with a field command post.

Prerequisites: IS-100,700,800 and one of the following IS200, ICS 200 or IS-2200- Must be completed before class begins.

***This is a required course to obtain the Advanced Professional Series (APS) certificate through FEMA***

Venue Information: You will receive specific training  information via e-mail when you have been approved to attend this course by the administrator. Please allow for up to 48 hours for this to occur.

To receive credit for training you must be present for the entire course.
