You will receive specific class information, student materials, and access links via email approximately five (5) days prior to the start of the course.

This one-day course provides communities with a foundational understanding of how to develop plans and procedures for rapidly and efficiently collecting disaster intelligence immediately following a disaster and establishing an effective Damage Assessment Program. The information gathered through these processes is used to prioritize response activities, allocate available resources, and request additional resources as needed to save lives and sustain essential services.

Target Audience:
Emergency management personnel, law enforcement, and any other individuals responsible for assessing, collecting, and reporting damages during and/or after incidents that impact private property, public property, and critical infrastructure.

To receive credit for this training, participants must attend the entire course.

This is a required course to obtain the Advanced Professional Series (APS) Certificate through FEMA.

Canceling Registrations

If a student can no longer attend a training for which they have registered, they are asked to notify the State Training Officer as soon as possible prior to the start of the course. At least two (2) weeks’ notice is preferred so that individuals on the waitlist may be offered the opportunity to attend. It is understood that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent advance notification.

The South Dakota Office of Emergency Management is providing this training at no cost to participants.
