G386 Mass Fatality

Wednesday, March 21 – Thursday, March 22, 2018   (2-day course)

Pierre, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

This course prepares state and local response personnel to handle mass fatalities effectively and to work with the survivors in an emergency or disaster.

Topics covered in this course include incident management, mass fatalities, establishing the morgue, and assistance from the Federal government. Participants will learn to identify the characteristics of a mass fatality incident and identify the roles and responsibilities of key personnel in the incident. In addition, students will learn the steps required to respond to a mass fatalities incident, including catastrophic numbers of fatalities and contaminated remains, and help participants determine their jurisdiction’s preparedness for a mass fatalities event.

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their current Mass Fatality annex’s from the Emergency Operations Plan so it can be shared, added to, and improved upon. If your jurisdiction does not have a current Mass Fatality annex, you will leave the course with one.

Audience: Personnel who may have responsibility for the recovery, handling, identification, and return of remains following a mass fatalities incident, to include first responders and emergency mangers.

Noteworthy: This class has been certified as 14 hrs. of continuing education for EMS/BLS providers.
