G205 Recover, the Local Government Role

Monday, Dec. 11 – Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017   (2-day course)

Pierre, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

This course explores the role, design, and functions of Emergency Operations Centers and their relationships with local levels of government during disaster recovery. Foundational concepts in disaster recovery and guidance on recovery planning will be covered. Participants will discuss how a disaster recovery effort can be organized, managed, and led along with the types of challenges faced by recovery managers. Scenario activities throughout the course give participants the opportunity to target information strategies, and address local capabilities and challenges.

Audience: Emergency managers, to include other local disaster recovery professionals, such as elected officials, city/county administrators, public works personnel, building inspectors, and community planners.

Required prerequisites: None

***This is a required course to obtain the Advanced Professional Series (APS) certificate through FEMA***
